The Purling Pineapple Welcomes You
The Purling Pineapple started in 2014 after some great friends encouraged our lead designer, Karen Calinski, to sell her knitted products. Our mission is to offer handmade knitted gifts that are as unique as our name.
Wether its colorful products full of wishes for the recipient, accessories for the girl on the go or decorating for the holiday- our store has something for everyone.
Now, I'm sure you are asking- what is with the name?
Well, purling is one of the stitches used to make knitted products. Some people consider it the "reverse knitted stitch."
But- what is with the pineapple?
Here is where things can get interesting. A pineapple is hard and prickly on the outside but soft and sweet on the inside (which is how some people describe Karen). Traditionally, a pineapple represents warmth, welcome and friendship. And yet some people use the term pineapple as a "safe word" to alert friends when they are uncomfortable in social settings. So, really a pineapple can mean almost anything to anyone and most importantly we think they are pretty cool.
So, there you have it!
A reverse stitch that is prickly, sweet and welcoming.
